I wrote a Handel article at The Morning News for the 250th anniversary of his death today. It's here:

HANDEL REBORN

I also have a story at Literal Latte:

Living Remains

It's a chapter of a novel I wrote and plan to get published, though the process is slowly turning me into Rudy Rudiger. The novel is called The Field Guide to Giants and Natural Wonders. It's about a chronic failure trying to turn his life around by reenacting dangerous folktales:

Paul Green is lured into a treasure hunt for an heirloom he's been obsessing over for years--a gold coin that contributed to his father's death and appeared throughout the long, strange history of small-town Waterbury. He's joined by an inscrutable young woman named June, who's unraveling a mystery that devastated her mother, and each step of the hunt presents them with a story and a hazardous adventure. Along the way, they clarify their own personal histories and recreate their lives through the characters, discoveries, and legends they encounter.

I've started another novel, too, about a mailman who accidentally burns down a row of houses on his route and tries to make amends with the victims, especially a wood sculptor whose wife died in the fire. Look for that one on bookshelves in 2015.
